Crow Bar Farm Foods, Sharon Smith and Jo Wainright
"Customer satisfaction and winning food awards have been by far the greatest satisfaction. We do a lot of tastings to gauge our customer’s reactions and get feedback. Customer satisfaction. We spend time with customers, research the latest food trends, and grow much of our own berries and herbs in an organic garden. The contests we enter help with marketing and validate us in the culinary community as well."
Jo and Sharon worked with Asheville SCORE on various aspects of their business from marketing, labeling to creating a business plan and being their sounding board.
Jo and Sharon shared that their mentor "Bob was very supportive and enthusiastic. He was very knowledgeable with his marketing advice and business plan direction. He listened and offered advice on our logistic quandaries and was able to provide simple yet overlooked suggestions."
Sharon Smith and Jo Wainright are forces to be reckoned with. After building a successful restaurant and closing it due to family illness and tragedy, they revisited their desire to provide quality food products a decade later and created Crow Bar Farm Foods, a culmination of the friends' love of eating, creating, innovating, and sharing of recipes.
Crow Bar Farm Foods is a true small batch operation. From gathering fruit from their own garden to making preserves one pot at a time in their kitchen, Sharon and Jo are the real deal.
Their award-winning products are found at: The Little Switzerland Inn and Switzerland Trading Company in Little Switzerland, NC; Boone St Market and The Corner Cup in Jonesborough, TN; StUf n SUCh at Lafayette Village, Raleigh, NC.
